Ho, ho, ho! After some much needed time away, Daddy’s (that’s me :-p) back!! I hope you enjoyed the past week with your family and friends. That being said, I know there’s a good chance that you were more naughty than nice since we last spoke..
That’s OK, but it’s time to get serious! Waiting for the New Year to start working on your goals is as surefire an approach to success as waiting for the perfect moment.
Reality Check: There is no perfect moment! You’re never 100% ready for any endeavor that presents itself in life, but if you really want something, then you must jump into the water with both feet and swim your ass off!!
There is no ‘trying’ – Only doing! If you falter, forgive yourself, and do better going forward. We’re human beings. We’re not perfect, so don’t expect to be. But you CAN plan! You CAN research. And you can ACT!
Fortunately, you’ve got me on the information/research front, and I’ve got a doozy for you! Earlier today, I did my weekly LIVE video in the Permanent Weight Loss Community on Facebook. This group is for people who are looking to lose 50 or more lbs, prevent debilitating disease(s), and are looking to avoid undergoing weight loss surgery. If you’re tired of wasting money on fad diets, on short-term fitness programs, then join us! We’re a community of likeminded individuals who want the same thing that you do: Permanent Weight Loss!
To join, please go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/pwl50plus/
Getting back, I got posed the below question by a member of the group for this week’s video. The few replies between the initial and final comment were me trying to get an understanding of what she’d been doing prior to this point:
When it comes to eating the right food(s) to lose weight, the first thing you have to do is get rid of the words ‘calories’ and ‘diet’ from your vocabulary. They do no exist. I wish they hadn’t been rammed down our throats since we were children, but we can’t change the past. What we CAN change is both our approach and our understanding to what good, quality nutrition should entail.
For starter’s, take a look at this graph:
Simply put, this graph illustrates how the three different macronutrients effect our blood sugar levels. There’s a reason I have my advanced Permanent Weight Loss clients eat in the following macronutrient ranges:
Eating a highly processed, refined, starch, and sugar-based diet stimulates a process called the Insulin Resistance Cycle. Hope you’re a visual person, because I’ve got another graphic coming your way:
As the name would suggest, this process can lead to fat storage and weight gain in the short-term, with Obesity and Type-2 Diabetes on the horizon! And while protein is all the rage now in terms of helping you lose weight, look what barely elicits any response, and continues to sustain your energy levels over a prolonged period of time?
That’s right, baby – Dietary fat 😉
Once you change your understanding of what weight loss is really about on the chemical level, it’s then time to change your perspective on nutrition from a QUANTITY perspective (calories, portions, and points) to QUALITY.
What is good quality? Well, memorize this sentence for that: “Eat meats, non-starchy vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, low-glycemic fruits, little starch and no (added) sugar.”
One last thing: Eat ONLY when hungry, and just to satisfy – NOT to stuff your face.
*GASP* Can it be that simple? Well, I lost 100 lbs doing what I just laid out, and many of my clients have seen similar results doing just that over the years. The proof is in the pudding. Now, instead of thinking about it, get out there and DO IT! 😉
